Welcome to Pinewood Class

Pinewood class is a vibrant, fun and energetic complex needs class located on the Upper school site. We are a Key Stage 3 & 4 class consisting of nine pupils aged 12 to 19.

In Pinewood, we follow the whole school curriculum, which is adapted to meet the needs of each individual member of the class.

We have an experienced team to support and implement our learning, which is multi-sensory and incorporates the use of a range of specialist equipment. For example voice output switches, switch adapted toys and equipment, assistive music technology equipment and other resources.

Developing communication skills is in the heart of everything we do, for example when exploring our sensory letter trays, sensory stories, art and science- we constantly encourage pupils to express their preference or make a choice. We use a range of approaches from individual symbols, PODD books, eye gaze, Makaton and touch cues.

Pinewood class enjoy and learn best in a stimulating, fun and enthusiastic environment and that is exactly what we aim to create on a day to day basis.
