Woodpeckers
Woodpeckers class is in the Lower School and is a Key Stage 2 class, the age of pupils ranges from 5-10 years old.
In Woodpeckers class, we aim to deliver a stimulating, broad, and exciting curriculum, which is tailored to meet the needs of the individual pupils in the class. We work hard on Literacy and Numeracy skills, and continuing to develop the communication skills of all our pupils is our top priority.
We have a different topic to learn about each half term and our activities are themed around this. Woodpeckers class focus daily on developing literacy skills through a Comprehensive Literacy Programme. We take part in a range or reading, writing, and words, letters and sounds activities each day. We use a range of PODD books, Makaton signing and electronic devices to support a total communication approach. We encourage the pupils to reflect on their own learning and share in celebrations of achievement.
We are a happy and energetic class who enjoy interacting with our peers. Our curriculum caters for this by encouraging us to be independent. We enjoy our creative curriculum and in particular our themed days and weeks. These can cover curriculum areas in English, Science, History and RE.
